Learning to be more independent

My nice new beautiful tutor Kerry is trying to teach me to be more independent frankly with feeding my dog Handsome. She is using motor memory and backward chaining. I think it helps. My mom used this to teach me frankly years before and I learned to have more control of my actions. Justly I will keep trying. My nice former tutor Dana did a task analysis for feeding the dog. It really is teamwork to teach me. I am a lucky guy.

This is good practice. I’m also teaching my 13 yr old to feed our dog, Cody. It wasn’t easy at first because Cody is a puppy and is very hyper. He loves to play and jumps on everyone. But he’s also a big dog and has strength, so this was a negative action towards teaching my son to like him and want to go outdoors with him. And imagine feeding time when a dog is excited. We have practiced by giving him a milk bone at the door and he goes off to chew it while my son puts down the food bowl and fills the water bowl. It’s worked out great and my son is proud to be helping.

  2. Dear Jeremy,

I am sure that as much as you appreciate your teachers, they appreciate you too.

You are a wonderful young man with a delicate soul and kind spirit.

I don’t know much about you but knowing you through your mom and your blogs, I see the kindness in you which untouchable. I am positive whoever is in your life is very proud of you as well.

    Have a great day.

Could you explain backward chaining and motor memory? I have 2 children on the spectrum ages 19 and 21, and I am trying to help them advance to jobs, etc.
    Thank you so much.

i learn the steps i do on my own for a task starting with the last step and then adding one by one the other steps.
motor memory is when my muscles learn a movement by doing it over and over. I need physical hand over hand to start.
